How to Use District Search to Find Case Connections
Discover how to use District Search to check if a student is linked to other cases.
District Search
The district search option is available to all users via the case dashboard, and allows for users to search for a student and view cases in which that student may be a witness, target, person of concern, interviewee, or listed individual.
- Log into Case Manager.
- Select the Cases tab.
- the District Search is available under both My Cases and All Cases, regardless of user permission in the upper-right corner of the case dashboard
- Click District Search to be taken to the district search page
- On the District Search page, the student search bar can be used to search for and select a given student from an integrated Student Information System (SIS); the search will return cases which involve the searched student as a target, witness, person of concern, interviewee, person spoken with, or subject of an interview as entered in one of these component fields
- Search results can be toggled to include both open and closed cases
- Search results appear in the table below the search bar and include:
- case number
- person of concern for a given case
- the connection(s) of a searched student to a given case
- case type
- team that currently owns the case
- team leader that currently owns the case
- date of incident of case
- option to view case or contact current team lead who has case access
Case Access Controls
Users can utilize the district search feature to identify student connections to cases. However, users without expanded permissions (Manage Cases) will only have access to cases assigned to their team. If the search identifies a case from another team, users will instead see the contact information of the current team leader, who can assess and address their access needs.
