Machine Names are required to enable the Computer Panic Button software on end user machines - these can be captured in two ways:
- Machine Name Import: In the 911Cellular Portal, Manage Devices → Computer Panic Buttons, click Upload Machines to download the approved import template and import all Machine data.
- Crowd-Sourcing: If your district opts in to using the Computer Panic Buttons, the Computer Panic Button software can crowdsource all AP information during software deployment.
Machine Name Import Process:
Step 1: Download the Machine Import Template
- Log into the 911Cellular Portal.
- Navigate to: Manage Devices > Computer Panic Buttons
- Select Upload Machines to access and download the Machine Import Template.
Step 2: Populate the Template
Enter the required details for each Machine:
- Machine Name – Unique identifier of the machine; this information is passed through on the E911 Call identify who activated the alarm.
-
First Known Ethernet Zone – The zone the machine presides in.
- Important: The zone must list the path to the most granular subzone. Refer to Security Zones in 911Cellular Portal for complete naming convention.
- Tip: Access the full list of Security Zone Full Names by clicking on "List View.” These full names can be copied and pasted directly into Column D on the template, no "pipe" characters required.
- Plaque / Room Number– Specific room or area description (e.g., Room 202)
Step 3: Upload the Machine List
- Return to the 911Cellular Portal, go to Manage Devices > Computer Panic Buttons.
- Attach and Upload File to import Machines.
If your spreadsheet is rejected from the upload, review Column B and confirm the Zones listed are the most granular zones.
Example: If my zone structure lists zone - High School > subzone - Floor 1, and only High School was listed in column D, the spreadsheet will be rejected. Floor 1 must be listed as it is the most granular zone location.
* Gateway IPV4 is not a required field.
