In this article, learn the benefits of connecting and how to sync your SIS with Compass Curriculum
Syncing Data with Compass Curriculum
WHY A DATA SYNC IS NEEDED
- Accurate User Management: A data sync ensures user profiles are automatically updated with the most current information.
- Single Sign-On: This feature is available for organizations that utilize Clever or ClassLink and eliminates the need to remember additional login credentials, simplifying access to the platform.
- Appropriate Visibility: Having the correct classes for each staff member ensures they can view the assignments specific to the students on their roster and monitor their progress.
- Group Assignments: Having data in the platform allows you to create Group Assignments for lessons that can go out to a whole district, whole school, grade level, or select classrooms.
- Detailed Reporting: The reporting section has filters that allow you to view reports by school, grade level, or instructor based on the data from your sync.
HOW IT WORKS
Compass Curriculum integrates with your district’s Student Information System (SIS) through the platforms Clever or ClassLink, which act as bridges between your SIS and the Compass Curriculum platform. *Students and instructors can also be imported via .csv files, though this is not considered best practice.

- Data Extracted from Your SIS: User roles, student rosters, school building assignments, classes, and grade levels are pulled from your district’s SIS.
- Automated Updates: Clever or ClassLink automates the syncing process, ensuring that any changes in your SIS (e.g., new students, role changes, staff updates) are reflected in Compass upon the sync. This is typically reflected in Compass within 48-72 hours.
WHAT DATA IS NEEDED AND WHY
A data sync ensures Compass Curriculum has the information required to support lesson assignment and management of the platform effectively:
- Buildings/Schools: Assigns users to the correct locations throughout the district.
- Admin: Provides correct visibility to staff who will need to see every class and every student for their district of school
- Instructors: Links educators to their assigned classes, ensuring accurate accountability for lesson assignments and the gradebook.
- Classes: Provides rosters for each Instructor and allows assignments to be made to a whole class.
- Students: Ensures every student and their grade level is included in the system for needed access and reporting.
⭐Having comprehensive data ensures that Compass Curriculum operates seamlessly, providing the accuracy and reliability needed to provide efficient social skills lessons to meet your organization’s needs.

CLEVER
Clever Data Sharing
Two Applications are required to connect in Clever:
- Navigate360 (rostering, white icon)
- Compass Curriculum SSO (single sign-on, orange icon)

The Navigate360 Clever app (top) will handle the rostering for your Compass platform, and the Compass Curriculum-SSO Clever app (bottom) will allow your students and teachers to use Clever single sign-on. You’ll want to make sure you’re sharing all data with both apps.
Please accept/connect BOTH the Navigate360 AND Compass Curriculum-SSO apps. Once accepted and setup by your organization in Clever, the Navigate360 team will be able to connect your data to Compass Curriculum.
🚩NOTE: If your district is already using other Navigate360 solutions, you should already have the Navigate360 rostering app setup and will only need to add the Compass Curriculum-SSO app. Please DO still review the data being shared with the Navigate360 rostering app, as you may need to include additional buildings/users.
The following fields are required to be shared with both applications:
- Buildings
- Staff
- Teachers
- Classes (All Sections)
- Students
Clever SSO
Schools and Districts using the Navigate360 Clever app to sync rostering data with Compass Curriculum will access Compass through the Clever app Compass Curriculum-SSO.

- Add the orange Compass Curriculum – SSO app tile (pictured above) on the Clever home screen for your students and staff, since this is how they will log in.
- Then, test several user accounts to verify functionality
CLASSLINK
ClassLink Data Sharing
Applications required to be added to your ClassLink roster server: Navigate360
🚩NOTE: If your district is already using other Navigate360 solutions, you should already have the Navigate360 app added to your roster server. You will need to complete the ClassLink SSO steps to setup Compass SSO via SAML (BELOW).
The following fields are required to be shared:
- Orgs
- Buildings
- Staff
- Teachers
- Classes
- Students
ClassLink SSO
Once setup by your organization in ClassLink, the Navigate360 team can connect your data to Compass Curriculum. Navigate360 will then confirm the SIS integration is complete and share next steps for establishing SSO through SAML in ClassLink (FULL INSTRUCTIONS LINKED IN BUTTON BELOW).
⚠️IMPORTANT: Follow these steps ONLY AFTER Navigate360 has confirmed rostering complete. Schools and Districts using ClassLink to sync rostering data with Compass Curriculum will access Compass through the ClassLink launch pad, clicking the orange Compass Curriculum tile.
