Feature Updates: Rapid Alarm, Roll Call & Reunification- EMS
Discover the latest enhancements to EMS with the new Rapid Alarm and Roll Call features, designed to improve emergency response and ensure accurate accountability of all personnel on scene.
Using Rapid Alarm, Roll Call & Reunification during an active alarm
Navigate360’s EMS has been enhanced and will be live by the 2024-2025 back to school period. You will notice a new user-interface along with some simplified workflows and updates to core features and functionality that you already use today. To learn more about updates made to the alarm management process please refer to the information below.
Activating an Alarm
Should a real emergency occur, any EMS user can activate an alarm directly from the Activate Alarm button on the side navigation area on the web application or from the Start Emergency slider on the mobile app home screen.
Activating a Drill or Training Alarm
Drill and Training alarms will now be activated from the Practice button in Rapid Alarm, the new feature replacing Respond. To help build muscle memory, the steps taken to activate a drill or training alarm will be the exact same as those taken to activate a real alarm, however they will originate from different areas of EMS to avoid accidental alarm activations. Drill sends notifications similar to a real alarm. Training does not send notifications.
Viewing an Active Alarm
Once an alarm has been activated, the homepage of the web and mobile application will display alarm details to help users navigate to the alarm as quickly as possible.
From the EMS web homepage, users can click Go to Alarm to view the Active Alarm Details page. Users can also view the active alarm on the mobile app home screen. The active alarm details page will display all information for an ongoing alarm and will update in real time.
If an Alarm Type includes a Roll Call, staff will be able to go into the Roll Call Details page and begin accounting for classes, students, staff and visitors*. If the Alarm Type that was activated did not include a roll call as part of its protocol, administrators or those with a can-edit role will be able to initiate a roll call directly from the Active Alarm Details page.
*Visitor information available when using Navigate360’s Visitor Management Solution
Only Administrators or those with can-edit permissions can initiate Reunification; and they can do so directly from the Active Alarm Details page. Once initiated, staff can go into the Reunification Details page and participate as directed.
The Active Alarm Details page will display counts for Roll Call & Reunification to provide insight into the on-going alarm. Staff will not be able to see these counts and can only navigate in and out of both Roll Call & Reunification from this page.
Roll Call
While in Roll Call, a user can:
- Account for themselves using the options I am safe, I need assistance, I am not on campus.
- Account for others (other staff, students, and visitors) using the options Accounted for, Needs Assistance, Not on Campus, and Exception.
An additional status option, Transfer to Reunify, can be used for students, only when Reunification is initiated, and will be used as an additional status to denote a student is being transported to a reunification site (i.e., a student marked as accounted for can also be marked transfer to reunify once reunification has been initiated)
Account for classes
- Users that are teaching staff will see a list of only their classes in the My Classes view, and can select a class to populate the rostered students
- There will be a class named Custom List which will be replacing custom rosters. Now, when a user accounts for a student that does not belong to any of their rostered classes, that student will automatically be added to that user’s custom list which must be submitted as a class.
- Statuses for each student in the class can be selected individually, or, when enabled in the alarm type settings, all students in a class can be marked as accounted for with one click.
- Once roll call is completed on a class, the class must be submitted which will then appear on the list of submitted classes on the Active Alarm Details page for administrators
Reunification
While in Reunification, a user can:
-
View/add students to the reunification list
- Any students marked Transfer to Reunify during Roll Call will automatically show on the student reunification list for staff to mark as checked in once appropriate
- Any students not already on the reunification list can be added using the Add Student to Reunification button at the top right of the student view.
-
Check guardians into Reunification
- Guardians can be checked in using the Guardian Check In button at the top right of the guardian view
-
View/manage status of students & guardians
- All status changes will be made on the student view using the options Checked In and Reunified, which will then automatically update the guardian view
- The guardian view will show all student(s) they are connected to using the SIS data, and will provide an overall reunification status as well as student specific reunification status:
- Partially Reunified: Guardian is tied to more than one student and is still awaiting reunification with each student
- Reunification Complete: Guardian has been reunified with student(s)
Ending an alarm
While any user can activate an alarm, only those with an administrator role (or with can-edit permissions) can end the alarm. Those who can end an alarm will see an End Alarm button next to the alarm either on the homepage, active alarm dashboard, or the Active Alarm Details pages in Rapid Alarm.
Ending Reunification will also automatically end the alarm.
