Overview of Texas Senate Bill 12
Texas SB12 addresses the use of student well-being questionnaires and instructional content in schools without appropriate parental consent. The bill ensures that parental rights to information and control regarding a student's mental, emotional, and physical health-related needs and related services are upheld.
Compass Curriculum Compliance
Navigate360 Compass Curriculum is a comprehensive, standards-aligned program designed to build students’ social skills, character development, and life skills. Importantly:
- No Mental Health Questionnaires
- No Compass Curriculum assessment, survey, or activity screens or diagnoses students for mental health conditions.
- Educational Purpose
- All instructional activities are designed solely for educational purposes, supporting social and life skills development in a manner aligned with Texas educational standards and policies.
- Parental Transparency
- Materials, lessons, and assessments are fully accessible for review by parents and guardians in accordance with SB12’s parental access requirements.
- Data Privacy
- Compass Curriculum does not collect or store personal mental health data. Any student responses to learning activities remain within the educational context and are not used for mental health evaluation.
