Visitor Management — Release Notes 🎉
Release date: July 22, 2026
New school year, new release! This one's all about saving front office staff some clicks, giving you clearer safety info exactly when you need it, and smoothing out a few volunteer renewal headaches. Here's what's new.
What's New
Bulk Student Check-in/Check-out
- No more 5-student limit on badge printing. Bulk Late Check-in and Bulk Early Check-out can now print badges for as many students as you throw at them — no more running the same workflow five times during morning tardy rush or dismissal chaos.
- See exactly who you selected before you hit submit. A clickable count (e.g., "12 students") now shows you the full list of selected students, so you can double-check before it's too late to undo.
- Heads-up on duplicate actions. If a selected student was already checked in or out, you'll now see a warning before completing the bulk action.
Closing the Safety Gap in Self-Serve Checkout
Blocklist and custody note checks already applied to Staff-Assisted checkout and to Guardian-initiated Self-Serve checkout. This release closes the one remaining gap: Student-initiated Self-Serve checkout — where the student, not the guardian, starts the process at the kiosk.
- Grade levels that require approval: When front office staff review a Self-Serve early check-out request (the Confirm Student Check-out step), they'll now see blocklist status and any linked custody notes for the selected guardian right there in the flow — same as they already do for other checkout paths. Staff still make the final call to approve or deny.
- Grade levels that don't require approval: When selecting who is checking them out, if the guardian a student selects is blocklisted or has custody notes on file, the request is redirected to the front desk for staff review before it can be completed.
Volunteer Renewal & Expiration
NOTE: requires Volunteer Management add-on.
- Choose whether to re-run background checks on renewals. When JDP Â is enabled, sending a Renewal Application (individually or in bulk) now opens a Yes/No prompt for re-running the background check. Default is No, and the prompt includes a note that selecting "Yes" triggers a billable JDP charge.
- Volunteers can now fix their own typos. Depending on your background check setup, volunteers can update name and date-of-birth fields directly on renewal or "sent back" applications — no more admin playing middleman for a misspelled last name.
- Find expired volunteers without leaving the Approved Volunteers page. A new toggle lets you view Expired volunteer profiles alongside active ones — with the ability to view the profile, view the application, send a renewal application, or delete (District Admin & DVC only).
Reporting
- Filter student reports by event type. The Reports → Students export now lets you pick Late Check-in, Early Check-out, or both — instead of exporting everything and wrangling it in Excel afterward. Nothing changes if you don't touch the filter; both event types stay selected by default.
DYMO Connect Compatibility
- Broader DYMO Connect support. Badge-printing workflows now play nice with the latest DYMO Connect versions, while still fully supporting legacy versions before v1.4.7. Update on your own schedule — nothing breaks either way. Grab the latest software from the Printer Setup page whenever you're ready.
A Few Small Polish Updates
- Some minor visual tidying across the Volunteer, Student, and Events pages — spacing, alignment, and a few icons that just needed to sit a little straighter.
