Safe and Efficient After‑School Pick‑Ups with Navigate360 Visitor Management
When schools start their after-school pick-up time, parents and guardians should expect a system that is efficient, welcoming, and secure. Navigate360 Visitor Management delivers on all these needs, providing an intuitive way to manage after‑school pick‑ups while maintaining the highest standards of safety.
Tailored Visitor Types and Reason for Visit Options
Administrators can create custom Visitor Type labels such as “Guardian”, and custom Reasons for Visit like “After‑School Pick‑Up”. Both District and Building Administrators can configure these options under the Visit Options settings.
Streamlined Check‑In Process for Guardians
When a guardian arrives to pick up a student, they will go to the Self-Serve Kiosk and select the needed Visitor Type (i.e., Guardian) and the Reason for Visit (i.e., After‑School Pick‑Up), choose the student associated with their profile, collect the printed badge, and proceed to the student after-school pick-up area. This process is both simple and secure, immediately triggering any required vetting or validation steps.
Badges and Quick Check‑Out with Barcode Scan
After checking in, the system prints a badge that identifies the visitor and the reason for their arrival. The badge includes a barcode. Once the guardian has collected the student, they can then scan the barcode on the badge to quickly check out. This method combines convenience with accountability while ensuring that students are only dismissed for after-school pick-ups by approved guardians.
How It Works: Step‑By‑Step
-
Configure Admin Settings
- Admin (District or Building Admin) navigates to Visit Options.
- Add a Visitor Type, such as “Guardian”.
- Add a Reason for Visit, for example “After‑School Pick‑Up”.
-
Guardian Arrival
- Guardian arrives at the school and goes to the Self-Serve kiosk
- They select Guardian as the Visitor Type and After‑School Pick‑Up as the Reason for Visit.
- They select the linked student and complete check‑in.
-
Badge Printing
- A badge is printed with relevant details and a unique barcode.
-
Student Pick‑Up and Check‑Out
- Guardian picks up their student. After picking up the student, the guardian scans the badge barcode.
- They then scan the barcode at the Self-Serve kiosk to check out securely and efficiently.
Needed Hardware
- Active Self-Serve Kiosk
- DYMO Wireless Printer (Recommended)
- 2D Scanner
Why This Matters
This capability is part of the existing Visitor Management system—there’s no need for new hardware or additional setup. It enhances school safety by confirming identities and associating guardians with student records before after-school pickups. The badge barcode reduces friction during busy after-school dismissal times, helping front office staff manage traffic smoothly and ensuring accurate tracking of campus entrants and exits.
By using existing functionality, schools can elevate safety and streamline dismissal routines without extra resources or complexity.
