DYMO Connect Installation and Troubleshooting
Quick overview on installing DYMO Connect for Visitor Management and basic troubleshooting steps.
Important:
- Make sure that you are logged in to your computer as an administrator.
- Leave the DYMO printer's USB cable unplugged during the software installation.
- After installation, you should reboot your computer and plug in the Dymo printer.
How to Install or Update the Dymo Software:
- Uninstall all old DYMO software, if present.
- Reboot the computer.
- Log in as an administrator of the computer (not a normal user).
- Download the DYMO Connect installation file from the Device Settings → Printer Setup page in Visitor Management, or from DYMO's Compatibility Chart.
- Open the installation file and follow the prompts within the install wizard to complete the installation.

- Note: 2 applications are installed, the DYMO Connect app and the DYMO Connect Web Service. The DYMO Connect Web Service is used to connect your locally installed printer to Visitor Management. While the service is running, it can be found in the System Tray on Windows or the Menu Bar on MacOS.
- Ensure that an SSL connection will be established when standard users attempt to print badges from Visitor Management by following the steps here.
- Reboot the computer.
- From the System Tray on Windows or the Menu Bar on MacOS, right-click on the Dymo icon and select the Diagnose option. If you receive anything other than “DYMO Connect Service is running on port 41951”, please repeat Step 6 above.
- Plug in the printer's power cable and connect it to the computer via USB.
- Or via Wi-Fi if using a DYMO Wireless printer
- Log in to Visitor Management and navigate to the Device Settings → Printer Setup page to set your default printers.
Troubleshooting:
- Make sure that the printer is not listed as "Offline" or "Not Connected" in the settings for your computer.
- Power cycle the printer by unplugging the USB and power cables. Leave them unplugged for at least 15-20 seconds before reconnecting.
- If you are using two separate DYMO single-roll printers, then we recommend that you rename the printers to "Badge Printer" and "Slip Printer". This will help ensure that the correct printer is saved to the preferred Default Printer field.
- Check to see if the printer is connected directly to the machine, not to a USB hub.
- Try changing the USB port that the printer is connected to.
- Check to see if the DYMO Connect Web Service is running. It should be found in the System Tray on Windows or the Menu Bar on MacOS.
- Test the printer using DYMO Connect. Just printing a blank label should be fine.
- Test the printer using a different browser.
- Reboot the computer.
- Reinstall the DYMO Connect software while logged in as an administrator.
