Lesson Composition
Each lesson in the Compass Curriculum Library includes additional functions and resources designed to support both instructors and students. To preview a lesson:
- Open the Lesson Library from the left-hand menu.
- Locate the lesson you want to view.
- Click on the eye icon under the Actions column (right side) to open and preview the lesson.
Preview of Lesson Outline
Compass lessons are organized into four key components:
- Pre-Quiz – Activates prior knowledge and sets a baseline for learning.
- Lesson Content – The core instructional material is presented through interactive text, video, and discussion prompts.
- Post-Quiz – Reinforces learning and provides a quick check for understanding.
- Additional Resources – Extension materials to support students, instructors, and families.
The specific resources included may vary depending on the curriculum type.
All resources are:
- Hyperlinked for quick access
- Downloadable or printable as PDF files
- Designed to deepen understanding and enhance the overall learning experience for both individual and group instruction.
You're Ready to Advance to the Next Section!
There, you'll learn how instructors can use the Lesson Outline to move directly to different parts of the lesson.
This feature allows you to skip sections (such as the pre-quiz) and jump straight to the lesson content for Whole Group Instruction.
Simply click on the section you want to begin or review and the lesson will open at that point.
Navigating Through a Lesson
Once you’ve selected a lesson to preview or share with the whole group, you can move through it step by step.
- Use the “Next” arrow icon located in the lower right-hand corner of the screen to advance you to the next section of the lesson outline.
- Click the “button” in the lower right-hand corner of the video box to move through the lesson preview to the next video screen.
Lesson Accommodations for More Support:
Each Compass lesson provides multiple built-in accommodations to support diverse learning needs:
Language Translation
- Click on the “G” icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
- A drop-down menu will appear with multiple language options.
- Select a language to translate the on-screen text instantly.
Text-to-Speech
- Look for the speaker icon next to each block of text.
- Click the icon, and the text will be read aloud to support auditory learners and students with reading challenges.
Video Accessibility Features
- Located in the lower right-hand corner of each lesson video. Options include:
- Closed Captions (on/off)
- Playback Speed Adjustment (slow down or speed up as needed)
- Full-Screen Mode (enlarge the video window for better visibility)
