How to Review SSIS results and Data
Learn how to effectively utilize the SSIS Report to enhance your SEL program, review the Mental Health Screener results, and support students' social-emotional growth.
- SSIS SEL Brief + Mental Health Scales (SSIS SELb + MH Scales): Multi-informant, criterion-referenced behavior rating scales with 30 items.
- SEL Competencies: Based on the CASEL Competency Framework (2020), including Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision Making.
- Emotional Behavior Concerns (EBC): Assesses Internalizing and Externalizing thoughts and behaviors.
Step 1: Open the "Reporting" drop-down and select “SSIS Assessments Reports.”
Step 2: Filtering options are located on the left side of the page. Set the report details to find the information you are looking for:
Report List: Specify your preferred view of user data. Assessment Options: Choose the season and the schools or district. Filters: Select the Respondent Group and Grade Level
Step 3: Click on View Results to see the report requested.
Scoring and Interpretation
- SEL Scores: Range from 0 to 60 for composites, 0 to 12 for competencies. Higher scores indicate higher social-emotional skill levels.
- EBC Scores: Range from 0 to 15. Lower scores indicate lower levels of concerning behaviors/thoughts. Scores are categorized into No Concern, Possible Concern, and Concern levels.
How the SSIS reports can support district decisions
- Identify Student Needs: Provides detailed SEL and EBC scores to identify individual and group needs, enabling targeted interventions.
- Monitor Progress: Tracks changes in SEL and EBC scores over time, helping educators assess the effectiveness of interventions and adjust strategies.
- Resource Allocation: Highlights areas requiring additional support, guiding the allocation of resources and support services effectively.
- Inform Policy and Programs: Offers comprehensive data to inform the development and refinement of school and district-wide policies and programs aimed at improving student outcomes.
Step 4: Review, Download, and Print Group Reports to aid in district/school decisions.
Recommended Reports for reviewing data:
SEL + EBC Scores by Respondent Group
This will give an overview of the competency SEL scores and the EBC score results for individual students. It will also include the domain / composite scores and performance levels for the SEL assessment and domain scores for EBC-I / EBC-E from each respondent group. Regularly review the domain and composite scores to monitor student progress over time. Adjust teaching strategies and interventions as needed to support continuous improvement.
Item Analysis
This report refers to the overall spread or range of responses given by all respondents for each item and shows the details of each question in the survey. It shows how frequently each response option was selected across the entire group. This report can support tailoring intervention for students or groups of students who need additional support.
SEL x EBC Matrix Summary
Combines SEL and EBC data to identify students of highest and least concern. Analyze the data across multiple schools to identify district-wide trends and disparities. This can guide district-level initiatives and support programs. This helps allocate resources and targeted support for those who need it most.
Step 5: Review, Download, and Print an Individual Reports by selecting Student Detail under Report List, then select the Student's name through the drop-down menu under Assessment Options.

Print individual student results by selecting the printer icon on the upper right side of the report. Recommended to print landscape formatted layout.
