Learn how to effectively utilize the SEL Assessments Report to enhance your SEL program and support students' social-emotional growth.
Step 1: Open the "Reporting" drop down and select “SEL Assessments”.
Step 2: Filtering options are located at the top of the page.
– District Admin can filter the report by school. District and School Admin can filter the report by grade. Instructors will only see data for the classes visible to them in Compass.
– To filter by assessment, use the checkbox to show or hide each assessment: Beginning of Year, Middle of Year, and End of Year. These scores will populate as students complete each assessment.
Step 3: Compare the Scoring Guide at the top of the page to the averages shown in each domain or subdomain. This will show where students are mastering, developing, or struggling within the 5 CASEL competencies and subdomains. The example below compares the average score across all domains.
Note: Scores for each assessment populate once they are completed throughout the year. Refer to step 2 to view assessments separately as shown below.

Step 4: Select the score within each domain or subdomain to see student answers and scoring. Data from each domain can be used to create small groups and inform future instruction and/or supports.

Step 5: Click Export Results to download a csv file of the selected data. In the example below, clicking on the Average Social Awareness Score shows a list of students and their answers to each question in this domain with the option to export data if needed.
Additional methods to review data:
In addition to the reports above, the visuals provided include detailed information when hovering the cursor clicking each part of the visual. Click each highlighted section to view and export the data.
A list of Domain Scores by Student and individual Student Answers are located at the bottom of the SEL Assessment page. Click Export Results to download a csv file to sort and filter data. Results for beginning, middle, and end of year assessments are available in separate downloads.
