Dymo Printer Install

Windows Installation Instructions for Dymo Single, Dymo Single Turbo, and Dymo Twin Printers. For additional support, please reach out to Tech@Navigate360.com

Step 1: Navigate to the following download link: https://www.schoolcheckin.com/files/Dymo/DLS8Setup8.7.4.exe

Step 2: Double click to run the downloaded DLS8SetupX.X.X.exe application.

Step 3: Walk through the installation screens using the default options.

  1. Select Language. Click “OK”.
  2. Click “Install” to install any pending Microsoft C++ components
    Note: If either of the installs fail, click “Yes” to continue.
  3. At InstallShield Wizard screen, click “Next”.
  4. Select the “I accept the Terms in the License Agreement” radio button. Click “Next”.
  5. At Destination Folder screen, click “Next”.
  6. At the Setup Type screen, leave “Complete” selected. Click “Next”.
  7. At the “Ready to Install the Program” screen, click “Install”.
  8. Once the install is completed, click “Finished”.

Step 4: Connect the power cord to the Dymo Printer.

Step 5: Connect the USB cord to both the Dymo Printer and the computer.

Step 6: Reboot the computer.

Step 7: Open School Check IN. Click on Admin. Enter Admin Password.

Step 8: Click on Printers.

Step 9: Select the drop-down options that refer to the printer model and paper configuration purchased by your school.

Step 10: Click Test to send test prints through your printer.

Step 1: Navigate to the following download link: https://www.schoolcheckin.com/files/Dymo/DLS8Setup.8.7.4.dmg

Step 2: Double click to run the downloaded DLS8SetupX.X.X.dmg application.

Step 3: Double click “DYMO Label v8.pk” to run install. Walk through the installation screens using the default options.

  1. Determine if package can run, click “Continue”.
  2. Introduction, click “Continue”.
  3. Read Me, click “Continue”.
  4. License, click “Continue”.
  5. Click “Agree”.
  6. Installation Type, click “Install”.
  7. Enter MAC Admin Password, click “Install Software”.
  8. Microsoft Office Add-ins, click “Continue”.
  9. Installation, click “Let Run”.
  10. Conclusion, click “Continue”.
  11. Summary, click “Close”.
  12. Click “Move to Trash”.

Step 4: Connect the power cord to the Dymo Printer.

Step 5: Connect the USB cord to both the Dymo Printer and the computer.

Step 6: Reboot the computer.

Step 7: Open School Check IN. Click on Admin. Enter Admin Password.

Step 8: Click on Printers.

Step 9: Select the drop-down options that refer to the printer model and paper configuration purchased by your school.

Step 10: Click Test to send test prints through your printer.

Web Camera Install

Installation Instructions for web camera integration.

Step 1: Plug the web camera into your computer USB port.

Step 2: Log into https://www.schoolcheckin.net/ using your login credentials.

Step 3: Click on Manage Schools. 

  • If you are logged in as the District Admin, click on the Edit icon next to School. If logged in as the School Admin, proceed to Step 4.

Step 4: Click on Settings.

Step 5: Set “Use Web Camera” to Yes.

Step 6: Click Save Changes.

Tips & Tricks!
Make sure your web camera is not being accessed by another application (Zoom, Windows Camera App, etc.). Web cameras typically cannot be accessed from two different applications at the same time, even if one is minimized in the background.
Is your computer not registering that the external camera is connected?
Try plugging your web camera into another USB port.

Dymo Printer Troubleshooting

Handling Printer Jams:

Step 1: Lift the dome of the Dymo Printer.

Step 2: Un-feed the continuous paper / Labels from the printer. *

Step 3: Unclip the black fasteners to remove the front panel of the Dymo Printer.

Step 4: Gently pull the grey slider towards you to better display the roller.

Step 5: Press the black feeder buttons to help dispel any scraps of paper.

If the continuous paper is wound tightly around the roller, the best practice is to use a razor blade and slice the paper in half, down to the roller. Once completed, holding one end of the scraps of paper and pressing the feed button will help dispel the scraps of paper.

Step 6: Once all visible paper has been removed, run a Dymo Cleaning Card through the roller a few times to pick up any paper scraps stuck to the roller. **

Step 7: When rollers look clean, reverse steps 1-3 to piece the Dymo back together. 

* Pulling up lightly on the black lever will help release the roller tension to pull the paper out manually.

** Don’t have a Dymo Cleaning Card? A business card with a few drops of alcohol will work. A can of compressed air can also help dry and remove any stubborn scraps.

Print Job Stuck in Print Queue on a Windows device:

Step 1: Click Windows Key.

Step 2: Type in Control Panel.

Step 3: Click Enter.

Step 4: Click on View Devices and Printers.

Step 5: Double click on the Dymo Printer icon.

Step 6: Right click on Print Job.

Step 7: Click Cancel.

If you cannot cancel the print job, unplug the power to the Dymo Printer making sure that all lights on the front turn off. Repeat steps 5-7. Once the print job has been cancelled, return power to your Dymo Printer.

Checking Dymo Web Service on a Windows device:

Step 1: Click on the Up Arrow on the Windows Task Bar in the bottom right corner.

Step 2: Right click on Dymo Label Web Service.

Step 3: Click Diagnose. Click Yes on the pop-up prompt.

Step 4: A webpage should appear with the following message:

“Congratulations! DLS Web Service is up and running. You can now print from supported web sites.”

If this message does not appear, take the following actions:
  1. Reboot computer and repeat steps 1-4 on start up.
  2. Repair / Reinstall the Dymo Software.
  3. Check with your building’s technician to check that the specific port listed in Step 4 is not being blocked.

Print Job Stuck in Print Queue on a MAC device:

Step 1: Click Apple icon on top left corner.

Step 2: Click on System Preferences.

Step 3: Click on Printers & Scanners.

Step 4: Double click on Dymo icon.

Step 5: Right click on Print Job.

Step 6: Click Delete.

If you cannot cancel the print job, unplug the power to the Dymo Printer making sure that all lights on the front turn off. Repeat steps 5-7. Once the print job has been cancelled, return power to your Dymo Printer.

Checking Dymo Web Service on a MAC device:

Step 1: Click on Dymo icon on top menu bar.

Step 2: Click Diagnose.

Step 3: Click OK.

Step 4: A webpage should appear with the following message:

“Congratulations! DLS Web Service is up and running. You can now print from supported web sites.”

If this message does not appear, take the following actions:
  1. Reboot computer and repeat steps 1-4 on start up.
  2. Repair / Reinstall the Dymo Software.
  3. Check with your building’s technician to check that the specific port listed in Step 4 is not being blocked.

Continuously Printing Labels with Shapes and Patterns:

Step 1: Unplug the power cord from the Dymo Printer to immediately stop Test Mode.

Step 2: Life the dome of the Dymo Printer.

Step 3: Unclip black fasteners to remove the front panel of the Dymo Printer.

Step 4: Replace the front panel on the Dymo Printer. All edges of the cover should be snapped back into place with the buttons on the front creating a sharp click.

Step 5: Plug Dymo power cord back in. Test Mode will have ended.

Step 6: If your Dymo Printer is still in Test Mode, repeat steps 1-5.

Dymo Prints out 2+ Labels:

Step 1: Verify labels are Navigate360 certified measuring 4 1/4 inches by 2 5/16 inches.

Step 2: Verify labels are loaded face down, with the sensor hole appearing on the left side of the label.

Step 3: Verify that there is a label hole punched out between each label.

If a label measures less than 4 1/4 inches, it will result in a second label printing to compensate for the missing 1/4 inch.

Barcode Scanner Configuration

Barcode Scanner Configuration for Student ID’s

Step 1: Follow the Barcode Scanner setup instructions supplied with the scanner.

Step 2: Plug the scanner into the USB port of the School Check IN client computer.

Step 3: Log into https://www.schoolcheckin.net/ using your Admin login credentials.

Step 4: Click on the Students Tab.

Step 5: Set the radio button Use Barcode Scanner for Check IN to Yes. 

Step 6: Save Changes

Note:

For a barcode reader to work, each student and/or Faculty/Staff member must have an ID card with a barcode. The number used to create the barcode must be the same as the number associated with either the student and/or faculty/staff member used in School Check IN.

Barcode Scanner Configuration for Faculty & Staff ID’s

Step 1: Follow the Barcode Scanner setup instructions supplied with the scanner.

Step 2: Plug the scanner into the USB port of the School Check IN client computer.

Step 3: Log into https://www.schoolcheckin.net/ using your Admin login credentials.

Step 4: Click on the Students Tab.

Step 5: Set the radio button Use Barcode Scanner for Check IN to Yes.

Step 6: Save Changes

2D Scanner Setup

School Check IN uses 2D Scanners to scan Drivers Licenses, Student ID barcodes, Faculty & Staff ID barcodes, and Key-Fobs. Preconfigured as plug and play devices, these 2D Scanners capture and input data from IDs into School Check IN.

2D Scanners Setup Instructions for School Check IN: On-Premise Client Basic

Prerequisite: OffenderCHECK must be configured and activated in the Admin Main Menu

  1. Open School Check IN
  2. Click on Admin
  3. Enter Admin Password
  4. Click on “OffenderCHECK” button
  5. ✔ the box next to 2D Scanner
Setup complete! Return to the Main Menu screen to start scanning.
2D Scanners Setup Instructions for School Check IN: On-Premise Client Enterprise

Prerequisite: OffenderCHECK must be configured and activated in www.schoolcheckin.net

  1. Open School Check IN
  2. Click on “Admin”
  3. Enter Admin Password
  4. Click on “OffenderCHECK” button
  5. Enter OffenderCHECK password
  6. ✔ the box next to 2D Scanner
Setup complete! Return to the Main Menu screen to start scanning.
2D Scanners Setup Instructions for School Check IN: Browser Client

Prerequisite: OffenderCHECK must be configured and activated in www.schoolcheckin.net

  1. Open www.schoolcheckin.net
  2. Log in with browser credentials 
  3. Click on “Admin”
  4. Enter Admin Password
  5. Click on “Scanners”
  6. ✔ the box next to 2D Scanner - click “Save
Setup complete! Return to the Main Menu screen to start scanning.

2D Scanner Recalibration

School Check IN 2D Scanners arrive as plug and play devices, pre-calibrated for easy setup. In some instances, recalibration is needed to reconfigure the 2D 

Scanner to work with School Check IN. If you need additional assistance recalibrating the 2D Scanners, please reach out to Tech@navigate360.com

How to tell if your 2D Scanner is uncalibrated?

Scanning the Drivers License barcode will populate Note Pad with the license data. Based on the data output, refer to the images below to see if your 2D Scanner needs to be recalibrated.

Needs to be recalibrated. Calibrated! Ready to use.
How to recalibrate your 2D Scanner:

If recalibration is needed, scan the following Calibration Barcode for your 2D Scanner. Once scanned, calibration will be complete and the 2D scanner will be ready to use.
